The Supreme Court Observer aims to build a non-partisan open-access database of the Supreme Court’s role and contributions. It will also go into the Court’s jurisdiction, procedures and history and analyse landmark cases. Additionally, it will discuss key legal and administrative developments, ranging from curated ‘must reads’ to historical overviews of legal doctrine.
Article 14
Article14 provides intensive research and reportage, data and varied perspectives and addresses threats to and failures of justice and deficiencies in the legal system. It tracks successes that can be built upon and discerns trends and patterns that require to be brought to the widest public attention.
The Suno India
Suno India, launched in July 2018, is a podcast-only platform, that is dedicated to audio-journalism on issues of public importance. The founders bring a combination of skills in journalism, advocacy and technology. The content is aimed at informing as well as challenging listeners without being preachy.

The India Forum (TIF), run by the Vichar Trust, is a digital ‘journal- magazine’ that aims to deepen the conversations on contemporary issues. Keraleeyam Masika started its journey 24 years ago with indepth, and ground reported stories, on the intersection of ecology, social justice and people’s movements. It started as a Civil Society Collective and published the magazine from 1998 till March 2020, and transitioned to digital.

Sadhana Weekly
Saptahik Sadhana is a Socialist Marathi weekly publication established by Pandurang Sadashiv Sane (Sane Guruji), a leader of Rashtra Seva Dal on August 15, 1948. The magazine has served as a voice for Socialist thought in India and played a key role in the mass awakening during the 21-month-long Emergency Rule in India in June 1975. The magazine has been led by prominent editors in the past such as P H Patwardhan, N G Gore, Narendra Dabholkar, and is now led by Vinod Shirsath since August 2013.

India Development Review
India Development Review, launched in March 2017, covers the development sector in India with a focus on deep-reporting from the media-dark regions. IDR. which has an all-woman leadership team, focusses on the verticals of agriculture, environment, education, health, human rights, livelihood, water & sanitation. It also plays a role in capacity-building in the development sector.
Main Media
Main Media is a hyper-local publication in Hindi covering the Seemanchal region, the four districts of Bihar – Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, and Katihar, launched in February 2018 by Tanzil Asif. It is known for its Deep-reported hyper-local reporting on systemic issues in Seemanchal, one of India’s most backward regions which is largely media dark.
Alt News
Alt News is committed to fact-checking in a fair, transparent and non-partisan manner. Alt News continuously monitors social media and mainstream media for incorrect and/or dubious information. Given the volume of fake claims that are circulating on any given day, Alt News makes a selection of which ones to debunk – based on source of claim, virality and nature of the claim. Main Bhi Bharat
Main Bhi Bharat was launched in 2020 as a portal to cover and report exclusively on tribal issues and the issues of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), it focuses on covering the stories and issues of the tribal population, to provide a voice to tribal India and take their stories and issues to the non-tribals, policy and lawmakers to create conditions for corrective interventions by the state. It also goes beyond the coverage of governance and policy issues to celebrate and mark tribal lifestyle, cooking and culture.

Founded by journalist Prema Sridevi, TheProbe is an independent and video-led digital news media platform that focuses on rigorous research and investigative journalism to create an impact and bring solutions to public issues. It delves into issues and events that have a critical impact on society but do not get the media space that they deserve.
Citizen
Founded in December2013 by senior journalist Seema Mustafa, TheCitizen is an online publication that covers issues of the citizens at the margins of society, people’s movements, foreign & strategic affairs, gender rights, ecology and mental health, through a network of independent journalists and columnists.

Apart from providing authoritative analysis and commentary, THe Wire aims to build itself as a platform driven by good old-fashioned reporting on issues of national and international importance and interest. ThePrint is a news, analysis, opinion and knowledge venture, launched in August 2017 by editor Shekhar Gupta. It is sharply focused on politics and policy, government and governance. Its leadership team includes India’s most experienced and respected journalists with proven track records in the finest news organisations.
The Caravan
The Caravan is India’s first long-form narrative journalism magazine and web portal. It was relaunched in 2010 as a journal of politics and culture dedicated to meticulous reporting and the art of narrative. The Mooknayak
The Mooknayak amplifies the voices of the exploited, deprived minorities, farmers and labour. They see issues and events through a Bahujan lens. Launched in January 2021, Mooknayak is a publication that seeks to present a strong alternative to the narrative in mainstream media, which they think does not take the views of the marginalised castes, minorities, and the socially backward. Its strength is its inclusive network of reporters and contributors from the communities they report on. They have one of the most diversified newsrooms in India.
Satyagrah
Satyagrah, a Hindi news website, is part of Scroll.in. Satyagrah was founded by Sanjay Dubey, who was the founder-editor of Tehelka’s Hindi magazine. Satyagrah endeavors to reach Hindi-speaking India with its deep ground-reporting, multimedia formats like audio bulletins, and videos and special focus on matters of health, development, foreign affairs, gender, law, and history. Satyagrah has been honoured with the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award in 2017.
Janjwar
Janwar is a Hindi-news portal that started out as a blog an has now been turned into a full-fledged website by founder-editor Ajay Prakash in 2012. Janjwar covers issues and events in the states of UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Haryana and Delhi. It particularly focuses on people’s movements.
Down to Earth
Down to Earth is an Indian science and environment fortnightly magazine and website, established by the Society for Environmental Communications in May 1992. The magazine informs people about environmental threats facing India and the world. The website’s sphere of influence is not limited to India, readers across the world rely on Down to Earth for a view from South Asia on the critical issues of human existence. It’s headquartered in Naya Raipur.

The Foundation provided financial assistance to Gaon Connection between September 2016 to August 2017.

Khabar Lahariya is India’s only a women-led digital, Hindi news portal that covers rural stories. Started in 2002 as an eight-page newspaper in Bundeli dialect, Khabar Lahariya has transitioned into a digital portal in 2008 and reports stories from close to 13 districts of Bundelkhand region.

CGNet Swara
CGnet Swara is an Indian voice-based online portal that allows people in the forests of Central Tribal India to report local news by making a phone call. A portal freely accessible via mobile phone, CGNet allows anyone to report stories in these regions and listen to them by giving a miss call. Reported stories are moderated by journalists and become available for playback online as well as over the phone.
East Mojo
Headquartered in Guwahati, the East Mojo is run by a team of journalists posted in the Assamese capital lead by Karma Paljor as well as reporters based out of each of the Northeastern states. East Mojo aims to educate and spread awareness among the people of the Northeast who are very vulnerable and blindly believe fake news and email scams promising gifts and money. ‘Mojo’ will be the network of citizen-reporters from across the region who will be trained in mobile journalism or ‘MoJo’, an emerging form of new media storytelling. This set of reporters will be the medium of change. At East Mojo, the team knows and believes that this remote but functionally significant region of the country has a lot to offer, and we’re not just talking about its green valleys and undulating hills. As a mouthpiece of this region, East Mojo intends to give the ‘nation’ what it hasn’t been represented with till today — ‘the eastern opinion’.
Sikkim Chronicle
Founded by three young journalists, Sikkim Chronicle (SC) is a digital news platform that harnesses technology and power of MoJo to highlight issues, events and personalities in Sikkim. With more than 15 years of journalism behind them, SC has been one of the pioneers of MoJo in the state and has already garnered significant traction in its reach in the social media in both English and Nepali. Sikkim Chronicle’s accent is on video as the preferred tool for telling a story.
Imphal Free Press
Imphal Free Press is an English-news daily published in Manipur since May 1996 and is now in its digital avatar. It now uses new-age platforms, including video, infographics and the social media, to disseminate news and perspectives about Manipur and the North East of India.
